Pictures From Mr. Eiffel's Most Famous Work

Gustave Eiffel also built the frame for the Statue of Liberty, but is far overshadowed by Frederic Auguste Bartholdi's creation of the outside.

From the top of the Eiffel Tower.
The taller black building is the
Montparnasse Tower, also known
as "The Shame of Paris."

We are not quite tall enough to reach
the 281 meter height, meaning our
heads are about 920 feet above the
ground up on the summit.

Here we are at the bottom, but you
figured it out because my readers
are smart people!

Just a blogger and a landmark.

Montparnasse Tower
behind a park.

Saint Sulpice church, with Les Invalides
photobombing at top right.

Am I going to take credit for
this spectacular shot of
Notre Dame?  Yes, yes I am.

Hotel des National Invalides.
Napoleon is buried right in the
center of the dome (well, at the
very bottom of the building).

Getting a picture of this Arc
 was a real Triomphe!

The Trocadero, with the high rises of
a distant part of Paris well behind it.

Another shot of Les Invalides
as it is also known.

Sacre bleu?  No, more like Sacre Couer!

The Pantheon.

One last pic from the base.

Ah, make it two last
pics from the base.
