Photos From The Hotel Des Invalides

The main courtyard of
Hotel des Invalides

Napoleon's tomb.

One of the domes.

The grave of Marshal Foch.
He was Supreme Allied
Commander on the Western
Front during WWI.  The title
of "Marshal" are given to
French generals who win
major battles.

The altar.

The bee was adopted by Napoleon
as his personal and family symbol,
representing immortality, regeneration,
and early French (Merovingian
dynasty) kings.

The main dome of the Invalides.

An allegorical painting.

Flowers at the grave of Vauban,
given by the Vauban Association.

Vauban's grave was the
second to go into the Hotel
des Invalides.  We first heard
Bordeaux trip last summer.
