There's a lot to Paris by just walking around. And we did lots of that, getting close to 25,000 steps (approximately 11-12 miles) nearly every day. There's so much beauty, stunning architecture, amazing fountains, and great street scenes in Paris that I will occasionally do a blog post of random Paris photos. Such as this grouping:
Yes, that's the Eiffel Tower
behind this statue near
Place de la Concorde
Us, the Place de la Concorde, the obelisk
(over Carol's shoulder) and the Eiffel
Tower (way back between us).
The obelisk is from Luxor, and
was given to France in 1830 by
Egypt's ruler. More on this
obelisk in a later post.
Like Rome, not every fountain
in Paris was filled and working
when we visited. Fortunately,
Fountain Louvois was. It's
surprisingly located in the
middle of Louvois Square.
The fountain's history is
part of Victor Hugo's "Les
Miserables."
Just us and our friend Joan. She's from Arc.
And her story is that of a hero's arc!
Part of Tuileries Garden. The weather
was great the whole time we were there.
If I taken the same photo at the end of
our week, the trees would have
been greened up.
