Aquamare
We got to
the villa – as one of the gents staying in the similar villa next to ours said,
“welcome to paradise.” The place is
amazing – it’s like three separate units.
The public part is a gourmet kitchen with two refrigerators, a wine
fridge (very convenient given the smuggled wine), a big kitchen table, a round
table for eight on the covered patio, all open doors, a big sitting area, high
ceilings, and nice sized infinity pool with a beautiful view of Sir Francis
Drake channel.
Outside on
one side is the entrance to two of the bedrooms. Maddy and Toni are sharing one suite, and Carly is in the lower
king suite. All five of the bedrooms
have very cool outdoor rain showers (with a roof and plenty of privacy). It’s like a comfortable shower in the
jungle. The other three king suites are
on the other side of the house. We took
the top level, Anne and TJ took the middle level, and Torie is on the bottom
level. All of the suites are huge.
Then we went
down to the private beach (shared by the three villas). Kayaks, snorkeling, views of the islands,
nice lounge chairs, an outdoor bed, coolers with cold drinks (water/juice), and
towels. We changed and hit the
beach. Maddy and I snorkeled while Torie
kayaked. Carly and Toni swam. After my 4:30 conference call, I brought wine
down to the beach, and we sat and watched the sun sink slowly, and beautifully,
in the west.
It truly is
paradise.
We headed
back to the house and hit the pool while the ladies prepped dinner. TJ and
I grilled pork tenderloins for dinner and we had quite the outdoor feast for
dinner. Other than two broken wine
glasses, there were no casualties. The
girls went to watch a movie in Torie’s room, and the parents hit the wine and
the pool late into the night (okay, 9:30, but it seemed late!).
This is going to be an unusual week for us traveling -- typically we do a ton of stuff each day (hence Julia's nickname of the "Iron Tourist" for me). Instead, we'll be chilling. Off to kayak, and maybe I will post some more photos in a bit.
