(Warning: before you start reading this post, be aware there is only one photo of food. There's only one photo in all, regardless of the subject. I know -- it's weird, as I don't mind looking at other people's food photos, but I just don't know that people want to look at my food photos!)
I signed us up via WithLocals for a food tour of Milan with Caterina. The tour wasn't certain to go off because Caterina had a potential potential scheduling conflict.
Caterina is a convivial and enthusiastic guide. She took us to three places in neighborhoods we really had not yet explored.
The first stop was Trattoria il Cestino. We sat outside under an umbrella and enjoyed a massive amount of charcuterie and great pizza. Meats, cheeses, olives, and more, that we got to wash down with prosecco. We chatted about Italian foods and Caterina bantered with the restaurant manager and the waiter.
From there we went to a cute little chocolate shop, Guido Gobino, and tasted some representative chocolates. The place was hopping.
Finally, she took us to her favorite gelato shop, Oggi. The line was out the door. She came back with our ice cream -- also delicious. One of the secrets of Oggi is that they make their gelato each day from fresh ingredients, and if they run out of a flavor, that's it for that day.
