Riding the shuttle bus to the Dolphin Encounter ship with a young German fellow, I struck up a conversation, because that's what I do when I'm traveling in foreign countries. We talked about our travels in NZ (he had 3.5 weeks to travel!), and how we had both come from Christchurch.
Matthias was as underwhelmed with Christchurch as we were.
Then, riding the shuttle bus back afterwards, I sat with a student from Paris who was studying for a semester in Australia at the University of Newcastle. He had the same reaction to Christchurch as Matthias.
So, don't take it from me -- believe a Frenchman and a German who agree! Christchurch is lame.
