Faithful readers know that I am fascinated by Roman ruins. Whether they be in Italy, Spain, Egypt, France, or England, I'm awestruck by the remains of buildings that are 2,000 years old.
Well, there's not much in the way of Roman ruins in London -- between fires and wars and gentrification, there's only some remaining. And, a quick search shows me there are some I didn't even know about, so that will be a goal if we ever get back to London, or as the Romans named it, Londonium.
Between the Tower Hill Tube stop and The Tower of London, you walk right past significantly tall remains of the old Roman wall that are approximately 21 feet tall.
There is also a statue of "believed to be" of Emperor Trajan installed in 1980. Experts say the head does not match the body, although I did not look closely enough to provide my usual expert analysis on that issue.
Anyhow, that's it -- that's all this is to write about in this post, but since it's the old Roman wall, it's definitely worth noting.
