Photos From The British Museum

The British Museum, which is why this
is in a post entitled "Photos from
the British Museum."

This is the Rosetta Stone of hieroglyphic
writing, which makes it the OG of
Rosetta Stones.

King Ramesses II

I took a limited number of
pics in the Egypt section, as
the Egypt blog has a lot more.

Hoa Hakananai'a, a maoi
from Easter Island that was,
you guessed it, stolen by
the crew of a British ship.

One of the Assyrian panels, this one
showing a warrior and the horse
he rode in on.

The king on the lion hunt.
Those behind him with a
spear are fighting off lions
attacking from the rear.

A lion -- with arrows sticking out of him.
Click on the photo to enlarge for clarity.

This lion is on his last legs.

A hunting dog wants in on the action.

Carrying one of the dead lions.

A frieze in the Parthenon Galleries.

This horse head ended up in
some movie producer's bed.

Look at the incredible
depiction of movement.

The centaur and human battle it out.

Frieze!  At the top of the British Museum.
