Cool architecture near Parliament.

The Burghers of Calais, a
statue by Auguste Rodin in
the Victoria Tower Gardens.
It commemorates an event
 In 1347, during the siege
of Calais by Edward III, when
 six leading citizens (burghers)
of the town offered themselves
as hostages to the English
king in exchange for the
lives of the remaining citizens
and the lifting of the siege.
