Mick Fischer was one of the Brits on the AU-Leeds program(me) that, if you've been reading this trip blog, I wrote extensively about how wonderful it was, and how, 39 years later, it still resonates with me.
Several of my Brit friends were on holiday whilst Carol and I were in England (if we were on vacation, they certainly could be too!). Mick and his girlfriend were available to come into London (they live on the outskirts). Mick just retired (whoa!) and was not bothered at all to come in.
We met at the hotel and walked to a restaurant in Mayfair they liked, Hush.
(Editor: Why you telling us to hush? Writer: That's the restaurant's name!)
We got outside seats on a beautiful London evening. Despite the DJ playing music too loud, we had a great evening catching up. We did joke that the music was so loud the restaurant should be renamed from "Hush" to "Loud." The food was quite good, but it was the company that made the evening special.
Afterwards we walked back to the hotel and had a drink at the bar together. It was great catching up with Mick and meeting Jane. All four of us talked as though little time had passed.
It really was a special night.
