It's Seville's second-biggest church, also built on the site of a mosque (9th century mosque). It's impressive, but we were kind of churched-out after the Cathedral, so I don't remember much about it. It's done in the Andalusian Baroque-style of architecture, and the unusual thing about it is that everything is done in the same style, because it didn't take over 100 years to build.
The church is the home to many of the statues that are paraded through the city during Semana Santa and other religious festivals. The rest of the year, these statues, showing the Passion of Christ, are kept in the richly decorated chapels.
Key statues include the Little Donkey (Borriquita), the Christ of Love (circa 1600), Our Lady of the Waters, Christ of the Passion (1619), and more.
Is it worth going to? Yes, assuming you have bought the Cathedral tickets, so entry is free. I don't fully understand how it is a Rick Steves two-star, but I gotta confess I've been underwhelmed by his ratings for Seville (if you couldn't already tell!).
