After dinner, we went out in waves of zodiacs to Kapp Lee to see four walruses that were hanging out on the beach. They were described to us as big brown blobs. As we got closer to the beach, we could see they were more than just big brown blobs, they were big brown blobs with tusks!
They were not that interesting, and yet they were fascinating, especially the few short times one of them moved or stretched. The photos are not that good – basically you’ll see four 2,000 pound blobs with parts of their tusks. Laying on their backs or sides, walruses are not that photogenic when they lie down in blobs.
Still, it was pretty cool to see our first walruses, and riding in a zodiac boat never gets old.
