Our final stop for the day was at Hjalparfoss, which means, well, the waterfalls of Hjalpar? As we arrived to make our way down the path, there was a bus and a wedding party posing for the photographer. We respectfully stayed our distance so they could get all sorts of photos of the newly married couple and their bridal party.
After a bit, the photographer sent the wedding party back to the bus, and then had the bride and groom lay down on the wooden platform (trusting bride, given the chance for her dress to get dirty). With their heads next to each other, their bodies were each aimed in opposite directions. Then the photographer's assistant launched a drone to take pictures from 40-50 feet above. It was a pretty cool idea. Somehow, Carol and I have no drone photos of our wedding from 1987!
The falls are not very high, but the river is separated by a large basalt rock, causing two falls to come together and meet at the bottom. There was a rainbow (of course -- seems rather de rigueur on a sunny day in Iceland). All in all, quite the pretty setting.
