Crocodile Rock

On the way out of Kom Ombo temple, there is a crocodile museum that's worth the short visit (the museum isn't very large).

The main feature of the museum are mummified crocodiles.  Oh, there's other stuff, but let's face it, when you have mummified crocodiles, you don't really need anything else.

There's nothing really else to say, but mummified crocodiles deserve their own blog post.  In fact, I think Elton John's famed song was about Egypt.  The opening line is, "I remember when rock was young. . ."  I think that's about all the rock carved temples in Egypt.  And crocodiles, well, what else do you need than crocodile rock.

By the way, there ARE crocodiles in Lake Nasser, but none in the Nile north of the Aswan Dam anymore.

Several of the many mummified
crocodiles.  Even dead they
still look frightful.

A carving of a crocodile.  Whatever is
in his jaws did not make it out alive.
This, btw, is the literal crocodile rock.

Question:
How do you tell the difference between a crocodile and an alligator

Answer:
One will see you after a while and the other will see you later.
