Our final stop in Saqqara was at a Egyptian carpet store, an industry that is taking off in that town. It is being used to train men and women in a trade. After seeing the demonstrations of the different types of weaving, we went upstairs to the showroom.
The carpet that jumped out to us turns out to cost $40,000, but he discounted it to $35,000, which is not quite the 20% discount we were told we'd get. Now, would we have bought it at $32,000? Not a chance! It was interesting, but only to a point. I will say, the carpets were more impressive than the Morocco carpets we saw.
Some on the tour did buy small carpets, but there were no large sales made.
Neil and Mary show significant interest,
but didn't pull the trigger on buying.

This guy was working fast, because
he faced a looming deadline.
Our host walks us through the process.
Our host. We weren't allowed to take
photos in the showroom of the carpets,
which I understand.
